Statecraft AI was founded on a simple observation: there are excellent researchers conducting important work on the capabilities and effects of AI and that research is not making it to policymakers.
That gap isn't a failure of the research. It's a failure of translation and communication and it's exactly the skill set that comes from having sat on the other side of the table.

Liz spent over a decade in the US Government and Intelligence Community, most recently as Director of International Economics at the White House National Security Council and Senior Advisor for National Security at the White House Council of Economic Advisers under the Biden Administration.
She was a principal architect of Executive Order 14105 on Outbound Investment, restricting US capital flows into China's AI, semiconductor, and quantum computing sectors, and Executive Order 14117 on Data Security, protectingbulk US personal data from foreign exploitation. She regularly briefed the White House Cabinet Secretaries, NSC senior staff, and senior policymakers on investment security and emerging technology risk.
She holds a Master's in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and is based in London, where she is active in the AI governance community.
